Martaveous Gregory In the Swiss Apls Studying Long Term Changes to Ecosystems caused by Human Activity
Coming out of high school, I earned the Posse Foundation national full-tuition leadership scholarship. This brought me to Brandeis University, where I’ve been studying in the Environmental Studies and Journalism programs. During my time here, I’ve developed battle-tested research and analytical skills. I also wanted the technical know-how to run the operations in a newsroom. I fell in love with using multimedia to communicate science. In my junior year, I had the privilege of studying abroad at Universität Freiburg in Germany. Freiburg is known as the second most sustainable city in the world. Over 60% of daily traffic there is powered by bicycles. Living there grew my passion for sustainable urban design, and I’ve become fascinated with renewable energy and using policy to drive equitable development.
Early career professional with a background in green industry, project managing, education, public sector, environmental regulation, data management and visualization. I am prepared to meet the needs of roles that involve technical expertise, public relations, and project management. Driven by a deep commitment to contribute to climate and energy related initiatives, I focus on transforming technical data into accessible solutions.
My experience in the public sector includes maintaining municipal databases and managing community outreach initiatives to streamline state resources and increase participation rates across diverse demographics. In the private sector, I have managed massive datasets for critical water utility infrastructure, tracking over $3 billion in capital investments and using spatial analysis to identify trends and inform strategic planning. On the technical side, I build and manage interactive, web-based GIS maps and produce multimedia projects that capture environmental conservation efforts.
Beyond the data, I have played instruments such as the clarinet, flute, piano, and digital groove boxes for over 10 years. My experience in music production extends to audio engineering, recording, songwriting, and performing live sets in various venues. In the summer of 2024, as a Upward Bound Program Lead, I created music production lesson plans and helped young learners find their voices through melodies and rhythms, while also leading field trips to encourage professional exploration.
